 flyWithCE Logbook in detail

flyWithCE Logbook is application that is sold together with flyWithCE Flight Recorder. In the future program will be updated with new interesting features which will further extend usability of the device.

 View flights and flight statistics

Program will display flight track together with declared or optimized task. You can also see the barogram where altitude and speed are displayed.

Logbook program supports flight optimization where you can select between Classic OLC or standard FAI tasks (distance, out and return, triangle, free flight). After you select one of the optimized tasks this information is also displayed in the list together with other flight information.

After selecting the task you can also check basic flight statistics which include time and height of each turn and distance and average speed between waypoints. This statistics is displayed for declared and optimized tasks.

For more advanced statistics you can view flights in other IGC viewers like SeeYou, StrePla or WinPilot 3D. They are just one click away from flyWithCE Logbook.

 TRUE flight sharing
Flights are usually saved as IGC files and on most computers you do not have IGC viewer installed. Even your glider friends might not have installed appropriate viewer program an all PCs. Because of that it is important that you can send flight in some more common format where viewer is already installed or it is easily available and it is free of charge.
First and the most user friendly format is KMZ which can be viewed in Google earth. Program is free of charge and could be quickly installed on home computer. Program is available for operating systems Windows, Mac and Linux. You can review flight track and program will also display graph with altitude and speed.
Next format is truly portable and can viewed on any PC with web browser and Internet connection. flyWithCE Logbook will generate HTML file which will display flight using Google maps service. This file can be opened on almost any PC. Receiver will be able to check the flight track and the task that was flown. He or she will be able to zoom in and see where you have flown.

Last thing which is always a challenge is to find the right IGC file. They all have short cryptic name and they all look alike. Because of that it is much easier if you can select one or more flights from the list and just press Email button. You can also select in which format flights should be sent (IGC, Google earth KMZ or Google maps HTML).

You can also embed Google Maps flight into your web page.

 Logbook and IGC file import
Program will display list of downloaded flights. You will be able to sort and group flights. Some flight information can be changed (like flight status, distance flown and comments). Program will also sum flight hours and kilometers for all and selected flights.

Program can import IGC files recorded with other flight recorders. With this option you will be able to import all flights that you have recorded in the past and are laying around your hard driver. Logbook will even detect that there are new IGC files.

 Enter IGC data (flight declaration)
Start of each IGC file holds information about the pilot, copilot, plane and airport. This information can be easily updated. Program keeps local database which helps when you are changing flight declaration. This means that you enter each pilot, plane or airport information just once. Next time you will be able to choose this information from the pre-prepared list.
You can also import the waypoint and task database and use this information in IGC declaration.
 Online and offline operation
Some information (flight declarations and signed flights) are stored on flyWithCE web server. This information is later used for signing flights or sometimes flight verification. You do not have to be connected to the Internet all the time, because program has built in advanced synchronization routines.
 Signing flights
Downloaded flight is sent to the server, which will search for appropriate flight declaration and sign flight. Signed IGC file is then returned to local PC and stored on local hard drive. This fill can be then used for competitions like OLC. Separate verification utility is also provided and with this utility you can verify if file is valid.

Requirement: Internet connection is needed if you would like to sign flights.
